The Motion of a Curling Rock. Theme: Other
The motion of a curling rock was first looked at scientifically in 1924. Since then there have been many attempts to explain why a curling rock curls the way it does. As of now there is no accepted mechanism to explain its behavior. The presentation will look at the most recent work in this area including the very recent work by the presenter. This work is based on research carried out by a group in Sweden. The question of Why does a curling rock curl? may finally be answered.
